The Avett Brothers I and Love and You album redesign

The Avett Brothers: I and Love and You
album redesign
The inspiration for this redesign came from a lyric in the title song of the album, "That woman, she's got eyes that shine like a pair of stolen polished dimes." All of the imagery used for this project takes its inspiration from the title song. The band is very indie and folky, so I decided to go with a vintage, handmade feel. The woman in the design is a scanned photograph of my grandmother at 16. I scanned in dimes to place over her eyes. The song refers to Brooklyn, so the image of the Brooklyn Bridge was used for the background. There is a reference to packing a bag and writing a note in the song, inspiring the paper in the background for the back of the album, as well as the handwritten font and the suitcase. For the title of the album, I ripped letters out of magazines and taped them to a ripped pice of paper, which I scanned in. This project was created using Photoshop and InDesign.
Front of Album cover. Created using a scanned vintage photograph, scanned dimes, and letters ripped out of a magazine and taped to a ripped piece of paper, which was then scanned. The image of the Brooklyn Bridge was given an aged treatment using Photoshop.
The back of the album. The paper imagery, vintage suitcase, and the handwritten font used allude to the lyrics of the title song.
